Shortly after the Battle at Monte Cassino, the tank was made a permanent memorial to the battle. It remains in the same position as it was when it was knocked out in May, 1944.

This was one of the locations that I was unable to visit in 2007, but I felt the memorial was quite intriguing, and worth a mention in my gallery. Photo rights reside with Paul Reed.
